Hosting a dinner? You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to prepare a delicious meal that everyone will love. In fact, I have some amazing 30 minute dinner recipes that are lazy host-friendly and absolutely delicious. No matter your tastes or diet, you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy on this list.
30-Minute Dinner Recipes That Are So Easy To Make
Vegan Baked Dumplings
These dumplings are the vegan version of the viral Trader Joe’s baked dumplings. It’s a quick and tasty recipe that will impress everyone. Delicious pre-made vegetable dumplings baked in a flavorful red curry sauce made with coconut milk, red curry paste, Soyaki sauce and garlic. Add veggies like red peppers, mushrooms and kale to make this dish even healthier and tastier.
All you have to do is prepare the sauce, add the veggies and dumplings to a baking dish, pour the sauce on top and bake for 20 minutes. It’s an easy dish that seems like you spent hours preparing it.
We like to add cilantro and green onions as garnish to complete the meal.
Coconut Lime Chicken
Here’s a simple skillet meal that comes together in just 30 minutes and tastes divine. Pan-seared chicken cooked in a coconut milk sauce with chicken broth, sugar and lime juice.
Once the chicken has been seared, you’ll bake it in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Top the dish off with extra cilantro and green onions for a bit of crunch and flavor.
We like to serve this on top of rice (which you can cook at the same time as the chicken) and vegetables.
You can use chicken breast or chicken thighs for this recipe. Thighs will give it a richer flavor, but keep in mind that the coconut milk is fatty as-is.

Mongolian Beef Meatballs
One of our favorite 30 minute dinner recipes is these Mongolian beef meatballs. The homemade sauce is so delicious, and even though the ingredient list is long, it’s very easy to prepare this dish.
You’ll cook ground beef with fresh ginger, garlic and green onions. Broccoli is served on the side.
The sauce is a mix of soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice wine vinegar and spices.
We like to prepare a little extra to spoon over rice or whatever we’re serving with this dish.
Want to save even more time? Use premade meatballs. They’re just as tasty and allow you to get this dish on the table even faster.
Mexican Street Corn and Shrimp
Shrimp and creamed corn are such a delicious pairing, and this dish is so quick and easy to prepare. If the weather is warm enough, you can grill the corn on the cob, but if not, feel free to use canned or boiled corn.
Along with corn, you’ll need:
- Raw shrimp
- Feta cheese
- Onion
- Garlic
- Spices
- Lime
- Cilantro
Mixed with half-and-half, the corn creates a creamy and sweet sauce that’s perfect with the shrimp.
You can serve this with traditional rice, cauliflower rice, quinoa or just a mix of vegetables – broccoli, asparagus or bell peppers are great choices.
The whole dish comes together in just 30 minutes (10 minutes of prep and 20 minutes of cooking) and makes 4 servings. Double the recipe if you’re feeding a crowd.
Garlic Butter Chicken with Zucchini and Corn
A one-pan dish that’s crazy delicious and so easy to prepare. The garlic butter chicken calls for a mix of spices, like smoked paprika, chili powder and garlic. Obviously, you’ll need butter, too. As for the veggies, you can really use whatever combination you like, but the recipe calls for zucchini and corn.
We sometimes add tomatoes into the mix.
Cilantro makes the perfect garnish for this dish.
Depending on what else you’re preparing, you may be able to just serve this dish on its own. Otherwise, you can serve with veggies (like roasted potatoes), rice or quinoa. Any grain you like will pair well with these ingredients.
The great thing about this dish is that it’s all cooked in a single pan, which makes clean-up even easier. I always use a cast iron skillet because it gives the perfect sear.

Creamy Tomato Ground Beef Orzo
One-pot 30 minute dinner recipes are my favorite, and this recipe is perfect for dinner parties. It’s creamy, comforting and delicious. It’s also a flexible recipe that you can make your own with just a few tweaks.
While this recipe calls for beef (I prefer 90% lean), you can use ground turkey or chicken if you prefer. If you want a vegan option, you can use crumbled tofu.
It’s really the creamy tomato sauce that’s the star of the show, and the orzo adds to the creaminess. If you don’t like orzo, you can always use rice instead (the flavor is similar to stuffed peppers – minus the peppers).
This recipe serves 4-6 people, but if you’re hosting a big crowd, you can easily double it.
30 Minute Creamy Thai Turmeric Chicken and Noodles
A lot of ingredients come together for this recipe, but it’s worth it in the end. You’ll toss chicken with soy sauce, honey, oil, turmeric, pepper and ground chicken. Allow to sit for five minutes.
In the meantime, heat oil in a large Dutch oven and then sear your chicken until browned. Toss in your bok choy once both sides are browned, and then cook for an additional two minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Add an additional two tablespoons of oil to your oven, followed by:
- Fresh ginger
- Cilantro
- Shallots
- Garlic
Cook for three minutes and then stir in your curry paste. After about two minutes, add your coconut milk and fish sauce. Add your chicken and bok choy back to the sauce and simmer until the sauce thickens.
While the thickening takes place, cook your noodles and divide into bowls. Ladle your chicken in, cover in sauce and add the rest of the ingredients on top.
30 Minute Creamy Tomato Gnocchi with Burrata
Creamy gnocchi is one of my favorite 30 minute dinner recipes and it makes enough to serve up to six people. You’ll need a large skillet and stock pot for this recipe, which is quick and easy to make.
Fill your stock pot with water, add salt and bring to a boil.
While your water is heating up, start heating olive oil in a large skillet on medium-low heat. Add your garlic in and cook for about two minutes or until it smells fragrant. Increase your heat to medium and:
- Add tomatoes
- Stir occasionally until the tomatoes break down (10 – 15m or so)
- Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes
- Reduce your heat
- Stir in your heavy cream
Add gnocchi into the boiling water and cook as per the instructions on your packet. Keep a ½ cup of the gnocchi water and drain the rest. Pour your reserved water into the skillet with the tomato sauce and your gnocchi, too.
Stir in your fresh basil.
Complete the dish by breaking your burrata balls into pieces and spreading over the pasta.
Salsa Verde Chicken & Rice Skillet
One Balanced Life offers this delicious one-pan meal that takes 10 minutes to prep. You’ll add olive oil to your pan and allow it to heat on medium. Mince and add garlic and diced yellow onion.
Mix your spices well in a small bowl.
Add your rinsed black beans, shredded chicken, green chilies, chicken broth, rice, salsa verde and roasted corn. Mix all of the ingredients well in the pan and bring to a boil. Allow to boil for 2 to 3 minutes before allowing to simmer for 15 minutes.
If the rice is cooked well and has soaked up the liquid, top with shredded cheese and place a lid on top to melt further.

Creamy Pepperoncini Chicken Skillet
A creamy pepperoncini chicken skillet like this is a must-try on this list. Perfect for a one-off meal or if you’re meal prepping for the week, you’ll start by cutting your chicken into thin strips and then season it with salt and pepper.
Melt butter in a large skillet on medium-high heat and cook your chicken strips until they’re brown on both sides. Once they are, remove the chicken and set it aside. In the same skillet, add:
- Diced onion
- Garlic
Sauté until the ingredients are golden, and then pour in your chicken stock. Add roasted red peppers next and reduce the heat. Slowly add heavy cream (once the heat is off) and Parmesan cheese to make a sauce.
Return the heat to medium, and add Italian seasoning and pepperoncini.
Add your chicken back, simmer and wait until the sauce is creamy and the chicken is cooked. Serve over rice, pasta or your fave veggies.
Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken Orzo
Thirty minutes for a fancy dish like this is well worth the time. Creamy with a tangy punch, this chicken orzo is packed with 40 grams of protein and made with:
- Chicken
- Olive oil
- Paprika
- Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic
- Sundried tomatoes
- Orzo
- Chicken stock
- Spinach
- Heavy cream
- Dried basil
- Red pepper flakes
- Grated parmesan
Start by heating your olive oil in a large skillet. While it’s heating, season your chicken tenders, sear the chicken and then make your orzo. Once the orzo is toasted, pour in your chicken stock and bring to a boil.
Allow to simmer for 5 to 8 minutes before stirring in your spinach, pouring in the heavy cream and returning the chicken to the pan to finish cooking. Grate your parmesan cheese on before serving.
